This is the trip report for our family trip to Cayman for Thanksgiving, 2001. Last Thanksgiving we had gone down and I wound up buying an old Caymanian House in West Bay that I've had renovated into a vacation home, Tim's Excuse. This was the first visit the kids have made to the place. Also one of Carrie's good friends, Samantha, joined us on this trip. We stayed a few nights at Tim's Excuse, then moved over to London House where we'd already had reservations. Had I known that Tim's Excuse would not have been rented, we would saved quite a few $$$ by staying there. The kids entertained themselves around the house by catching lizards (anoles), tree frogs, chasing the bush chickens, and just exploring around. Lenny (our next door neighbor) went with us for a drive on the dike roads nearby looking for iguanas. We saw a few big ones that jump in the water to escape as you approach too close. We celebrated Andrea's birthday with a horseback ride (with Pampered Ponies) and dining out at the Wharf. Also did a lot of snorkeling at several spots including a night snorkel at cemetery reef, and of course a trip to stingray city. Had a barbeque cookout at the house one night, and Norma cooked a great turkey dinner at London House on Thanksgiving. And I got in 3 dive trips on the west side, 1 to east end, and 1 on north wall. As usual, the trip ended too soon. Next time we'll have to stay longer. :) Click the links below for more.
